A look at Senator Tim McGough's record — and who it really serves.

He won't pay his taxes.
He'll gladly raise yours.

Tim McGough represents Amherst, Merrimack, Milford, and Wilton in the State Senate. Here's the record — on your taxes, your schools, your health care, and whether he can even do the job.

On FAILING TO DO HIS JOB

Removed

His own party stripped him of every committee.

In April 2026, Republican Senate President Sharon Carson removed Tim McGough from all of his committee and commission seats — and took away his staffer — over allegations of abusive treatment of colleagues and staff. Carson said it was "not a decision I made lightly."

His conduct got so disruptive that the Senate changed its own rules, on a bipartisan vote, to stop him from holding the chamber's agenda hostage. One fellow Republican called him "just an arrogant jerk." A senator stripped of his committees can't deliver for his district.

On your taxes

17 Years

Didn't pay his own taxes — wants to raise yours.

Tim McGough piled up federal tax liens across 17 different tax years, with overdue balances that climbed past $70,000 at their peak and totaled well over $140,000 — documented in the Hillsborough County Registry of Deeds and U.S. Tax Court records.

Yet he voted for raising or instituting over 100 fees on Granite Staters — siding against tax relief for Granite Staters even as he fell behind on his own bills.

On His record

100% Party Line

A rubber stamp, not an independent voice.

McGough earned a perfect 100% score for the 2026 session from Turning Point Action — which named him a "Patriot" — and a perfect 100% from Cornerstone Action, rankings that place him among the most conservative members of the entire New Hampshire Senate.

He's a self-described Trump super-fan who has donated to Trump's campaigns and gushed about his "charisma … and intelligence." That's not an independent voice for Amherst, Merrimack, Milford, and Wilton.
